Trying to cope with the aftermath

Friday - April 29, 2011

Two days after the storms -

In that time, I've listened to a lot of people talking about the devastation - the personal losses.  But tonight at 10, you can watch what may the most heart-wrenching interview yet.

WSFA 12 News reporter Sally Pitts talked with an Elmore County woman who was on the phone with her frightened daughter in Tuscaloosa when the tornado crushed the young woman's apartment complex.  It was their last conversation.

Tonight we'll listen as the mother and father - a former University of Alabama football player - remember their daughter's life and share their plan to preserve her memory for students at the university.

We'll also talk about the incredible outpouring of generosity for those are still suffering...and how the giving just keeps growing.  If you're moved by the images, we'll have information on how you can help.

Looking on the bright side - the weather for the weekend will not be a factor for those who are rolling up their sleeves in the recovery effort.

Hope you'll make your plans to join us.

See you at 10.
