LAKE MARTIN, AL (WSFA) - A clean-up day scheduled for Saturday, May 7 on Lake Martin has been canceled due to safety concerns over the size and amount of debris in the water.
The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is advising boat to use extreme caution while on the lake.
"We are asking our homeowners and local boaters to have patience while we go through the process," said Charles Borden, the Lake Martin Resource Association spokesmen. "Everyone is working together to get the clean up accomplished as quickly as possible."
The Lake Martin Resource Association (LMRA), Alabama Power, federal, state and local officials have been meeting to coordinate and facilitate efforts to remove debris from the lakes.
