The Alabama softball team had three players garner Capital One Academic All]District 4 honors, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Sophomore Kayla Braud (Eugene, Ore.) was named to the first-team while sophomore Jackey Branham (Troy, Mo.) and junior Cassie Reilly-Boccia (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) both nabbed second-team accolades.
Braud, a public relations major, sports a 3.92 grade point average. As a first-team selection, the sophomore advances to the Capital One Academic All]America Team ballot, where first], second] and third]team All]America honorees will be selected later this month. On the field Braud leads the team with a .439 average and has added 69 hits, 56 runs and 45 stolen bases.
Branham sports a perfect 4.0 GPA in secondary education with an emphasis in science. The sophomore is batting .250 with a home run and seven RBI. Branham has walked 15 times and sports a .446 on base percentage while finding time in 32 games.
Reilly-Boccia showcases a 3.75 GPA in exercise science to earn second-team honors. The junior is batting .325 with 10 home runs and 41 RBI. Her 10 homers and 41 RBI ranks third on the team. Reilly-Boccia has played in 47 games with 45 starts and walked 20 times to sport a .414 on base percentage.
Alabama concludes its regular season on the road this weekend as it heads to Oxford, Miss., to face Mississippi in a three-game conference series. The first game is scheduled for Friday, May 6, at 5 p.m.
