Sister Schubert's Rolls roll into Tuscaloosa

TUSCALOOSA, AL (WSFA) - "Roll Tide Roll" took on a new meaning Monday after it was announced more than $500,000 worth of Sister Schubert's® Sausage Wrap Rolls are making their way to the West Alabama Food Bank as part of the tornado relief effort.

$500K worth of rolls works out to about 100,000 packages of the pre-baked, sausage-filled rolls. The doughy delights will be transported to Tuscaloosa in 4 waves over the next two months.

"Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the devastating storm that hit very close to home for our Alabama employees and their families," said Patricia "Sister Schubert" Barnes, Founder. "We hope this donation will provide food for those still in need."

Sister Schubert's Homemade Rolls was founded in Troy, Ala. by Barnes in 1991 and was eventually purchased by the T. Marzetti Company of Ohio.

Sister Schubert's produces 12 varieties of rolls at three bakeries: the company headquarters in Luverne, Ala.; Saraland, Ala.; and Horse Cave, Ky.
