Coming off of a fifth straight NCAA Tournament appearances and the ninth in program history, the Auburn soccer program has released its schedule for the upcoming fall, which features three non-conference matches against teams that played in last fall's NCAA Tournament and the return of a tournament to the Auburn Soccer Complex.
"We are very excited about the 2011 schedule," Auburn Head Coach Karen Hoppa said. "As always, the SEC schedule will be tough every game, but our non-conference schedule will prepare us for SEC play. There is no easy game on this schedule so every game will be exciting."
After playing an exhibition match at 2010 NCAA Tournament participant Memphis on Friday, Aug. 12, Auburn opens up the regular season with five straight home matches, the first two against teams that made the 2010 NCAA Tournament in Wake Forest (Aug. 19) and Middle Tennessee State (Aug. 26). After facing Kennesaw State on Aug. 28, Auburn will host a tournament in which it will play Duke on Sept. 2 and Wright State on Sept. 4. Ole Miss will also participant in the tournament.
Auburn will finish out the non-conference schedule with three straight road dates, playing at Samford on Sept. 9 and then in Denver, Colo., on the Sept. 16 and 18 vs. Colorado and Devner, respectively.
Auburn opens the SEC season at home on Sept. 23 vs. Kentucky followed by a match against Vanderbilt on Sept. 25. Also coming to the Auburn Soccer Complex from the league is LSU (Oct. 14), Arkansas (Oct. 16) and Georgia (Oct. 20).
Auburn will play six road SEC matches, traveling to Ole Miss (Sept. 30), Mississippi State (Oct. 2), Florida (Oct. 7), South Carolina (Oct. 9), Tennessee (Oct. 23) and Alabama (Oct. 28).
The SEC Tournament is Nov. 2-6 at the Orange Beach Soccer Complex in Orange Beach, Ala.
