Troy's Tyler Hannah has been named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week for the week ending on May 15, 2011 as announced by the conference Monday afternoon.
Hannah, a junior, almost single-handedly willed the Trojans to a Sunday win over Louisiana-Monroe. Hannah went 3-for-4 on Sunday with three doubles and five RBI in the 13-4 win for the Trojans.
He had a double in each game this week while knocking in the game winning RBI on Friday for Troy in the ninth inning to key a 5-3 win in the series opener.
For the week, Hannah batted .562 (9-for-16) at the plate with six doubles, nine RBI and four walks as the first-place Trojans posted a 3-1 record. Hannah scored six runs and also stole his sixth base. In four games, he was perfect in 11 chances in the field. On the season, Hannah leads the Sun Belt in doubles with 25 and ranks second in hits in league play with 42. He has scored a Sun Belt-best 29 runs in conference games.
He leads the league with a .416 average in conference games and is batting .368 overall this season.
Hannah and the Trojans are in action next on Tuesday against Samford in the final game at Riddle-Pace Field this season.
