Montgomery strikes out at landing SEC Baseball tourney

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The City of Montgomery has lost out on a bid to host the annual Southeastern Conference Baseball Tournament.

The SEC signed a new, 5 year deal with the Alabama Sports Foundation and the City of Hoover, located just south of Birmingham.

The deal means the league tournament will continue through the year 2016 at Hoover's Regions Park.

SEC Commissioner Mike Slive said he was happy with how things turned out and "we look forward to continuing to provide them [baseball fans] with a great environment and experience."

A news conference is being held in Birmingham at this time. WSFA 12 News will have more information as that meeting concludes.
The 2011 event will be held at Regions Park on May 25-29.
