MONTGOMERY CO., AL (WSFA) - One person is under arrest and charged with Driving Under the Influence after an early morning crash damaged four vehicles and injured two people, one critically.
The 4-vehicle collision happened around 7:40am on Snowdoun Chambers Road in south Montgomery County.
Alabama State Troopers took Sri Venkata Bhanu Potugari, 34, of Montgomery, into custody on a DUI charge and two counts of first-degree assault. Troopers say Potugari was driving a 2008 Toyota Prius that was responsible for the chain reaction.
A gray Dodge van, a blue Ford Ranger and a charcoal gray Mazda sedan were all involved in the collision with Potugari.
Robert Dale, 49, of Montgomery, who was driving the Ford Ranger pickup, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Baptist Medical Center South. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
James Maynor, 44, of Honoraville, was driving the Dodge van, and suffered serious injuries. He was also taken to Baptist South.
Elizabeth Sankey, 59, of LaPine, who was driving the Mazda 6, was not injured.
Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
