TROY, Ala. - The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) released the declared lists for the East and West Preliminary Rounds in track and field, for both the men and women on Thursday afternoon. The Troy University men's track and field program has student-athletes in five different events next week.
Senior Stanley Arukwe is in three different events, qualifying in the 100-meters (10.44) with the 39th best time in the region. He also ran the 23rd fastest time in the 200-meters at 20.93 seconds; while also being a leg on the 4x100-meter team that ran the 24th fastest time in the region (40.36) this season.
Sophomore Neko Freeman is in two different events, qualifying in the 100-meters at 10.38 seconds and running a leg on the 4x100-meter relay team. The other two members of the 4x100-meter relay team are Thaddeus Curtis and Chris Upshaw.
Meanwhile, Sun Belt Conference champion Terrell Irons qualified 26th in the triple jump with a distance of 15.45 meters; while a pair of athletes qualified in the javelin. Martins Pildavs recorded the fifth best throw in the region at 73.32 meters, while Matt Braswell recorded the 44th best throw at 63.07 meters.
Irons will serve as the alternate on the 4x100-meter relay team next week.
