John Dilworth, the man who for two years ran the Montgomery County Public School system as its superintendent before being lured back to Louisiana, has notified the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board that he will not seek to have his contract renewed when it expires in July 2012.
This is the second time Dilworth has made the announcement to the board. In April 2010, less than a year after leaving Montgomery and a lucrative contract and bonus promise, Dilworth surprised everyone when he submitted a letter of resignation effective June 30. The board later accepted his request for a waiver of his resignation.
Dilworth replaced Dr. Carlinda Purcell and was, himself, replaced by Barbara Thompson.
Dilworth became superintendent of the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board on July 1, 2009, replacing a retiring superintendent.
He is a former vice president of university affairs at Northwestern State.
