Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange is joining other state attorneys general in Israel this week where they're participating in an American-Isael Friendship League delegation.
"I am deeply honored to represent the State of Alabama and to be among those privileged to extend the hand of America's friendship to the people of Israel," said Attorney General Strange. "Alabama has a special link to Israel because of our strong economic development ties, particularly through our space and defense industries"
The trip is billed as a way to gain understanding of the Israeli government structure and the historic relationship between the two nations, Strange's office said.
Strange and others in the delegation have met with Israeli President Shimon Peres, Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein and several other ministers.
Strange's office says the meetings focused on social, economic and political issues regarding Israel and the Middle East.
This trip was co-sponsored by the America-Israel Friendship League, the National Association of Attorneys General and Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
