Hyundai: 5th straight month of sales records

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Good news continues to pour in for Hyundai Motor America. The company announced Wednesday that it's hit another all-time record with May sales of 59,214 units, up 21 percent compared with the same record-breaking period in 2010.

Hyundai is now in its fifth consecutive month of all-time monthly sales records.

The company is reporting total yearly sales up 29 percent and retail volume up 40 percent.

Hyundai is attributing its sales climb to fuel efficient automobiles, and a trade-in value guarantee program that it has launched.

"Consumer response to the Assurance Trade-In Value Guarantee program has been terrific – it's already driving a much higher level of consideration and brand lift than our original Assurance job-loss program, and is a key factor in our on-going retail sales strength," said John Krafcik, Hyundai Motor America's president and CEO.

Hyundai's only North American automobile manufacturing plant is located in Montgomery. Hyundai Motors Manufacturing Alabama produces the Sonata and Elantra sedans.
