PRATTVILLE, AL (WSFA) - Prattville city officials announce after much consideration and review of last year's attendance figures, Pratt pool will open on Saturdays from 10am-5pm beginning June 11.
Officials say they were able to reschedule lifeguards and stretch a limited seasonal budget.
"I pulled together a citizen committee to address the issues with opening Pratt Pool this summer. Even though we've found a way to fund lifeguards' salaries one day a week, this committee will continue to meet. The goal of the committee is to find creative funding that meets with council approval," says Mayor Bill Gillespie.
Gillespie states he will keep the public aware of any progress as they work on the project.
The city council and Gillespie will be discussing the fees for open swim in the coming days. Officials say one topic regarding the pool will be 2012 ADA compliancy which will require more funds to bring it up to code.
