MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - A Montgomery man is under arrest and charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of a man on Adams Avenue Wednesday night.

Nathan E. Fuller, 50, of Wares Ferry Road faces a murder charge for the death of Charles E. Lewis, 43, of South Holt Street.

The shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the Premium Package store on Adams Avenue near downtown.

Police and Fire medics responded to the scene and found Lewis suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to Baptist Medical Center South, where he died approximately 2 hours later. Investigators say Lewis was shot four times: in both thighs, the right hand and behind an ear.

Police say they identified Fuller as a suspect and further investigation showed the two men knew each other. The shooting apparently stemmed from a "continuing altercation."

Fuller was taken to the Montgomery County Detention Facility, where he is being held under a $75,000 bond.
