MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Less than 18-hours after the Montgomery Police Department started investigating the city's 16th homicide of 2011, they're confirming an arrest and charges in the case.

The suspect, a 17-year-old woman, is charged in connection with the June 15 stabbing of a 21-year-old East Park Avenue man.

Caprice Nicole Tyrus-Woods, also of East Park Avenue, was charged with murder after being questioned at police headquarters.

The victim, Derrick Smith, was found outside a residence in the 300 block of East Park Avenue around 8:40pm Wednesday. He'd been stabbed in the chest at least twice.

Smith was transported to Jackson Hospital where he later died.

Tyrus-Woods was placed in the Montgomery County Detention Facility with a bond set at $75,000.
