MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Police are searching for the people who damaged six air conditioning units at the Billy Thames Boys and Girls Club in Montgomery.
Police said the crime happened sometime after the club closed Wednesday afternoon. Copper appeared to have been taken from the units.
Club officials say the cost to repair the damage could be more than $100,000.
"It's one thing when you take from adults but when you start taking from innocent children that have no other avenue other than what we give to them, it breaks my heart, it makes you want to just break down and cry," said Felicia Bates, who works at the Club.
A local church has offered to host the club's programs until a solution is reached.
The club is seeking donations of water to help keep the kids stay cool and money to help pay for repairs.
