Alabama Congressman Mike Rogers Back From Iraq

Alabama Congressman Mike Rogers says morale among Alabama troops based in Iraq is good. In a telephone interview Tuesday, Rogers said many of the soldiers told him they're ready to return home.

The Anniston Republican was one of nine congressmen who visited Iraq last weekend. The delegation's fact-finding tour included stops in Baghdad and Mosul where they met with military and coalition leaders. The group also visited a hospital and an elementary school. Rogers said progress is being made in restoring Iraq's infrastructure, but he said he was surprised at how underdeveloped the nation is. He also urged the media to focus more of its reporting on infrastructure and diplomatic improvements in Iraq.
