CHILTON CO., AL (WSFA) -

The Chilton County Sheriff's office is releasing the identities of two boaters who died after their vessel capsized on the Coosa River late Tuesday night.

The bodies of John L. Tice Jr. of Montgomery and Jason P. Thomas of Marbury were located by divers in the water just below the Mitchell Dam just before noon Wednesday.

Thomas' son, an unidentified 14-year-old, was found six hours earlier by a passing boater. The boy was clinging to a piece of concrete in the river.

The boy told authorities he, his father and his father's friend were fishing around midnight when the boat started taking on water. All three individuals quickly ended up in the water.

Verbena Fire & Rescue, Care Ambulance Service, and the Chilton County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the scene where they found the boat floating upside down in the water.

Boats from the Chilton County Sheriff's Office, Alabama Marine Police, and Elmore County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the scene as was the Chilton County Sheriff's Office Dive Team.

Requests were put out for the Chilton County Rescue Squad and a regional dive team from the Montgomery Fire and Police Departments. Tice's body was found at 10:35am. Thomas' body was located at 12:08pm

Alabama Power Company reported that there were no turbines running when the boat started filling with water and none ran during the entire night.
