Inmate escapes from Maxwell prison

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The U.S. Department of Justice is confirming that a prisoner has escaped from the Federal Prison Camp at Maxwell. Haleodore Zepeta was reported missing Wednesday morning.

He is described as a 37-year-old male with black hair and brown eyes. He is 5'07" tall and weighs approximately 130 pounds.

Zepeta was serving prison time for Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute and Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine. He was scheduled for release in October 2018.

The FBI, U.S. Marshals Service and local/state law enforcement officials are investigating the events surrounding Zepeta's escape and are currently searching for the man.
