Merchants speak about fatal shooting next door in south Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -Mildred Wright and Nathan Morris run two entirely different businesses in LeCroy Village in south Montgomery but they're connected by the fact they work right across the street from the City Limits Bar and Grill on McGhee Road.

Police say this is where three people were shot and a security guard was involved but investigators say it's not clear who shot whom; did the guard do the shooting or was he responding to gunshots inside the bar? In the end one man died, two others hurt.

It happened around 1:45 Thursday morning.

Wright opened her hair salon in April and fears this could cut into what she considers a thriving venture.

"Even though it happened overnight someone was still shot and killed over there," Wright said.

For Nathan Morris it's a matter of putting it in perspective.

"I just come here.. do my job and stay out of other people's business," Morris said.

No one returned our call at the City Limits Bar and Grill. Homicide investigators tell WSFA 12 News one man died, another man critically injured with a gunshot wound to the stomach and a female was shot but she is expected to be okay.

Police say it started with an argument but they won't say what it was about.. who started it.. and why the guard felt the need to open fire. Authorities aren't releasing any names right now including the security guard's.

Even though a terrible thing happened inside the bar Wright and Morris say they have no plans to move, no plans but to sit tight and focus on their respective business.

"Whatever happens is going to happen. I'm just going on faith," said Wright.

Two merchants choosing not to let the violence get in the way of earning a living at LeCroy Village.
