MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley has appointed 24 people to a panel charged with examining the state's insurance market.
Bentley chose Baldwin County Probate Judge Tim Russell to lead the commission. The panel also includes state Insurance Commissioner Jim Ridling, state Revenue Commissioner Julie Magee, lawmakers, insurance agents, policyholders and representatives of three insurers.
Initially, the commission was meant to address only the state's coastal insurance market, but Bentley expanded its scope after the April tornadoes.
Bentley said he will call a special session of the Legislature on the issue of insurance.
