MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Alabama State University soccer coach Jodie Smith, will be a presenter at the 15th Annual Alabama High School Athletic Directors and Coaches Association. His speech/clinic will be held tomorrow (Wednesday, July 13) at 1 p.m. at the Renaissance Hotel as he will speak to the Alabama high school soccer coaches.
The Clinic is in conjunction with the AHSAA All-Star Sports Week being held in Montgomery July 11-15. Over 2,000 coaches from the state of Alabama are in attendance during the week and over 300 student-athletes and 46 coaches from the state will participate in all-star games in volleyball, softball, basketball, soccer, baseball and football.
"It's a great opportunity to meet the High School Soccer Coaches of Alabama in an informal environment," Smith said. We will be able to exchange thoughts and ideas which will help us improve and further develop as coaches."
Smith led the Lady Hornets soccer program to their best season in the history of the program in 2010. The team finished with a 4-3 record against Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) teams, which also represents the first winning season against conference teams. ASU also moved into the semifinals of the SWAC tournament after a first-round upset of Texas Southern University. It was the first tournament victory for ASU and their first trip to the semifinals.
