Children of all ages showcased their endurance skills at the third annual Baptist Health Kid's Triathlon Saturday.
The event included running, swimming, and biking at various distances depending on the child's age, which ranged from six through 15.
Organizers of the event say the main goal of the triathlon was to help parents and children form a stronger bond while also promoting a healthier lifestyle. Race director Greg Miles says it was an important event because it built self-esteem.
Montgomery Multisport was on site assisting organizers with keeping track of the participants' race times. Each child who crossed the finish line was announced as a tri athlete and received a custom metal.
This event is part of the 2011 Montgomery Multisport Family Fitness Series and all proceeds will go to the YMCA Partner with Youth Campaign.
