Toomer's Corner; Security Concerns; Tax-Free Holiday

THURSDAY

JULY 21, 2011

GOOD MORNING!

WATCH OUT HOMEOWNERS! AUTHORITIES WITH THE ALABAMA ELECTRONIC SECURITY BOARD SAY SOME HOME SECURITY COMPANIES ARE PREYING ON ALABAMA RESIDENTS. THEY'RE COMING INTO HOMES TRYING TO FORCE PEOPLE TO SIGN CONTRACTS WITH THEIR COMPANY EVEN IF THEY ALREADY HAVE AN ALARM SYSTEM WITH ANOTHER COMPANY. WE DON'T WANT YOU TO BE THE NEXT VICTIM, SO WATCH TODAY IN ALABAMA FOR MORE INFORMATION.

WITH SCHOOL AROUND THE CORNER, PARENTS WILL SOON HIT THE STORES WITH THEIR STUDENTS TO SHOP FOR SCHOOL SUPPLIES. ALABAMA'S TAX-FREE WEEKEND WILL LET PARENTS STOCK UP ON BACK-TO-SCHOOL ITEMS WITHOUT HAVING TO ADD ON THE SALES TAX. WE'LL LET YOU KNOW WHEN IT IS THIS MORNING ON TODAY IN ALABAMA.

THOUSANDS OF AUBURN FANS ARE WAITING... TO SEE IF THEY CAN CONTINUE A TIGER TRADITION. AUBURN UNIVERSITY LEADERS WILL LIKELY MAKE AN ANNOUNCEMENT TODAY OR TOMORROW ABOUT THE TRADITION OF ROLLING THE TOOMER'S CORNER TREES. EARLIER THIS YEAR -- IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT BOTH LIVE OAKS HAD BEEN POISONED. WE'LL HAVE THE LATEST ON THE TOOMER'S CORNER TREES THIS MORNING ON TODAY IN ALABAMA.

THOSE STORIES, PLUS YOUR THURSDAY MORNING FORECAST FROM METEOROLOGIST JOSH JOHNSON THIS MORNING FROM 5-7 ON WSFA 12 NEWS.

SEE YOU SOON!
