Auburn University officials say they want to eventually demolish the Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum to make room for more parking on the campus.
The coliseum has hosted Elvis Presley, the Rolling Stones, Elton John and other legendary artists, but the new Auburn Arena has led to plans to raze the old coliseum.
However, the coliseum is still used for some athletic department facilities and offices. The College of Education's Department of Kinesiology is also housed in the facility.
Dan King, assistant vice president of facilities, tells the Opelika-Auburn News that the university is working to relocate employees in the coliseum to other facilities before the structure would be torn down.
They say a large parking structure on the site would add parking for students who commute and for people attending events.
