LOWNDES CO., AL (WSFA) -

Lowndes County Sheriff John Williams said his deputies were involved in a manhunt near Hope Hull Monday evening.

The suspect, unidentified, was later found and arrested. No additional details are currently known about the man.

The deputies searched for the felony theft suspect near Mile Marker 161 of Interstate 65 for several hours.

Sheriff Williams said the suspect fled off the interstate on foot and into the woods.

The Lowndes County Sheriff's office requested help from the Alabama Department of Corrections' Canine Tracking Team and the Alabama Department of Public Safety's Aviation Helicopter, as well as other law enforcement officers on the ground.
