MILLBROOK, AL (WSFA) - A 20-year-old man is suffering from life-threatening injuries after being shot multiple times Sunday afternoon in Millbrook.
Police Chief P.K. Johnson said the shooting happened in the 4300 block of Davis Lane after a civil disturbance. The alleged shooter then fled the scene in a burnt orange Ford Mustang.
The victim, Irving Thomas, Jr., a Montgomery resident, was taken to Baptist South Hospital in serious condition.
Chief Johnson said his department has a suspect identified, and is "actively attempting to locate him at this time," but specific information about the man was not released.
"It appears that these two young men are acquaintances that got into a heated verbal altercation over what started out as a joke, based on witness statements," Chief Johnson said.
Calling the shooting "yet another example of the senseless violence that plagues our society today," Johnson said the suspect "would do well to turn himself in."
Johnson said Attempted Murder charges are already being written up.
