MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Hyundai Motors keeps churning out cars, and good sales reports. Tuesday, the company announced sales numbers for the month of July, and they were up ten percent compared to the same time in 2010.
The company reported sales of 59,561 units for July, including the vehicle that set a milestone for its Montgomery, Ala. manufacturing plant: The 1 millionth Sonata.
Year to date, Hyundai reports sales growth of 23 percent compared to the previous year in total, and up 36 percent at retail.
"Consumer demand continues to be robust across the board for Hyundai, particularly with our imposing sedan line-up of Accent, Elantra, and Sonata Hybrid all delivering on our 40 MPG promise," said Dave Zuchowski, Hyundai Motor America's executive vice president of national sales.
The Montgomery-built Sonata and West Point, Ga. built Santa Fe SUV saw increases of 17 and 15 percent, respectively.
