MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

In WSFA 12 News' 57 years on the air, one man has kept watch over the skies as our chief meteorologist for nearly half of them!

Rich Thomas celebrates his 30th anniversary with the station today, a rarity in a business where the only constant is change.

Rich started on August 3, 1981 as a weekend meteorologist and P.M. Magazine co-host. He became the chief meteorologist in 1983.

Rich is a member of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association. He is a three time winner of the Associated Press Best Weathercaster award, most recently in 2011.

He also looks the exact same as he did the day he walked in the door. It's the magic of television!

The weather radar and graphics, and some of Rich's suits, have changed, however.

Congratulations Rich!
