It's another day when intense afternoon heat combined with high humidity will aid in the formation of more random afternoon thunderstorms which will last well into the evening hours before ending later tonight.
At mid afternoon thunderstorms are developing rapidly in central Alabama, producing a lot of lighting and locally heavy rain. These storms will continue moving eastward through central Alabama during the remainder of the afternoon and evening hours.
Like yesterday, some of the storms could be on the strong side with gusty winds, intense lightning and heavy rain. Storms will be slow movers which will increase the threat for localized urban flooding from the larger thunderstorms.
A few weak frontal systems will try to make into central and south Alabama as we into the late week period and the weekend, which could act as a focus for more storms, but will also help introduce some slightly drier air at times, briefly across parts of central and north Alabama.
Don't look for a miracle, though. The humidity will not go down much, but perhaps lower dewpoints will keep the heat index out of the danger range by later week into the weekend.
Meanwhile daily highs will average in the middle 90's with lows in the mid 70's.
