An Elmore County man is behind bars after authorities say he mailed sexually explicit material to an inmate at a treatment center for Sexually Dangerous Persons. When authorities searched his home they found child porn and castration equipment.

Elmore County Sheriff's Deputies were made aware of 68-year-old Edward Bodkin, a Slapout resident, after they were contacted by the Massachusetts Treatment Center for Sexually Dangerous Persons. An inmate at the center received sexually explicit mail containing child porn and photos of other sexual acts from Bodkin.

Deputies obtained a search warrant for Bodkin's home and found more than 100 photos of child porn and photos of human castrations. It is not clear if these acts occurred in Elmore County. The Wetumpka Herald reports that Bodkin admitted to recording children as young as one month old in sexual acts.

Bodkin was arrested at his home on Friday, August 12, and charged with 4 counts of Possessing Child Pornography. He faces a $100,000 bond.

Computers, photos and surgical equipment used for castrations were all confiscated upon the suspect's arrest.

Authorities say Bodkin has a previous arrest record. He served time in 1999 after police in Huntingdon, Indiana arrested him for Practicing Medicine Without a License. Bodkin performed at least five castrations without a medical license.

Bodkin's Wikipedia Page calls him an "American Cutter" and explains that he would perform the castrations for free providing that his "clients" would allow him to videotape the procedures.

Elmore County Deputies say Bodkin may also face federal charges due to the fact that the U.S. Secret Service is now involved.
