Earthquake near Washington, D.C. felt in many states

Good afternoon,

WSFA 12 News is working with all our sister stations and affiliates to gather more information on a sizable earthquake that happened a short time ago near Washington, D.C.

The Associated Press reports that the Pentagon is currently being evacuated.

The quake was felt in New York, North Carolina, and other states.

The U.S.G.S says the quake was near Mineral, Virginia and was at least 5.9 in magnitude on the Richter Scale.

We'll have more information as it becomes available.
