The first effects of hurricane Irene now felt in North Carolina

Friday - August 26, 2011

Tonight marks the return of Friday Night Football Fever - the 20th season for the high school highlight show.  Hope you'll be watching.

Before we get to FNF, several stories to share with you - starting with hurricane Irene's assault on the east coast.  We'll have the latest on the high winds and large waves moving ashore in North Carolina.

Another weather-related story - this one with a happy ending.  The Children's Harbor camp for special needs kids was just about wiped out during the devastating tornado on Lake Martin April 27th. But now, thanks to a generous donation, it's being rebuilt.  We'll take you there for a progress report.

Montgomery police cadets have a new addition to their curriculum at the police academy dealing with the history of Montgomery - specifically "civil rights and wrongs." Officers already on the force will take it, too.

And, the NCAA issues a statement regarding sports commentator and odds-maker Danny Sheridan's claims to have "inside information" on recruiting at Auburn.

Hope you'll join us on the set at 10pm.
