Alabama's electric cooperatives send aid

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Alabama's electric cooperatives are on stand-by to send power restoration workers and equipment to North Carolina.

An estimated 100,000 electric cooperative members in North Carolina were without power at 10:00 a.m. today due to Hurricane Irene.

Dozens of electric cooperative crews from North Carolina helped Alabama cooperatives restore power in April during the tornado outbreak.
