One dead in Lee Co. after car drives onto closed bridge September 1, 2011 at 3:13 PM CDT - Updated June 25 at 8:26 AM The Lee County Sheriff's Department says a stolen vehicle could be at the center of a Thursday morning fatal car accident. Investigators were called out to a section of Lee County Road 379 where a car had wrecked in a construction zone. A bridge in the area had been closed for repairs. The driver of the vehicle avoided detour signs which led to the crash where the bridge was out, according to Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones. Jones says there's an indication the vehicle was stolen. Another vehicle with a similar description was reported stolen from a business in Smiths Station just before the accident was reported. Coroner Bill Harris says the unidentified man was pronounced dead just before 7:15 a.m. CT. His body will be sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery to be positively identified.Copyright 2011 WTVM. All Rights Reserved.
