TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) -
In more than 100 years of Alabama football, Crimson Tide fans hold many fond memories... but no one single event affect the Alabama nation more than the April 27 tornado that ravaged Tuscaloosa.
Of the numerous athletes that suffered loss, long snapper Carson Tinker stands out, if only because of the life literally snatched from his arms.
Tinker and his girlfriend, Ashley Harrison, were taking shelter in his home in Forest Lake when the tornado hit, separating the two. Tinker was injured, but Harrison died in the storm.
Tinker, along with Ashley's parents, talked with FOX6 Sports anchor Rick Karle about their past pain and their future hope.
There have been numerous awards and endowments formed in Ashley's name, including the Ashley Harrison Pet Fund, sorority awards, and the "Tide in Texas Endowments."
The "Ashley Harrison Memorial Scholarship" provides funds for a student to attend collect in Ashley's memory. If you would like to contribute, write:
