One Montgomery business owner keenly interested in what President has to say

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Tasha Scott started her Real Time Reporting, LLC business 7 years ago. Scott started in her home and then progressed to an office in the Small Business Resource Center.

Scott hires trained court reporters for subcontracting work to help people who, for example, might be disabled.

For the moment though Scott's attention is on President Obama's speech set for Thursday night. The President is expected to outline his proposal to create jobs and ways to pay for the plan.

"I hope I hear something along the lines of incentives that would help small business owners like me," said Scott.

The head of the center is counting on Mr. Obama to somehow make it a bit easier for small business owners like Scott to get capital, a key ingredient to keep a business humming, according to Doug Jones, Executive Director of the Small Business Resource Center.

A huge number of small businesses fail after the first three years but the center tries to reverse that trend by offering training on how to get a business off the ground.

Owning a small business is a long time dream for Tasha Scott, a dream she's determined to keep alive in this very challenging economy.

You can watch the President's speech live on WSFA 12 News, Thursday night at 6 o' clock.
