Suspects ID'ed in Gibbs Village homicides

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The Montgomery Police Department is identifying two people arrested in connection with the Aug. 30 fatal shootings in Gibbs Village.

Detectives charged Chandler Boone with Attempted Murder and held him on $1 million bond.

Boone's cousin, Josephus Boone, is charged with hindering prosecution and is being held on a $250,000 bond.

MPD is awaiting forensics results in connection with the investigation and says additional charges are expected.

The investigation stems from the August 30 double-homicide that occurred in the Gibbs Village Housing complex. Two other victims suffered minor injuries.

MPD officers and Fire medics responded to the location shortly after 10 p.m. after receiving reports of shots fired.

There they located Jaderico Langford, 21, of Capitol Parkway Court outside an apartment in the 1800 block of Gibbs Drive. Langford was treated at the scene for multiple gunshot wounds before being transported to Baptist Medical Center South, where he was pronounced dead at 10:45 p.m.

Police located a second victim, Deswana Gregory, 18, of South Smiley Circle behind an apartment in the 1900 block of Gibbs Drive. Gregory was transported to Baptist Medical Center South for treatment of life-threatening gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead Aug. 31.

Two additional victims received minor injuries. A 31-year-old female and her 14-year-old son were outside their apartment in the 1900 block of Gibbs Drive when the woman was struck by an apparent ricochet projectile and the son received a grazing wound to the head. Both were transported to Baptist Medical Center South for treatment.

Langford and Gregory were Montgomery's 24th and 25th homicides for 2011.
