PRATTVILLE, AL (WSFA) - A police officer who was involved in a single vehicle accident along Interstate 65 in Autauga County has died more than a month after the crash.

Raycom News Network partner WBRC Fox 6 in Birmingham reports that Jarrod Stathers, an officer with the Kimberly Police Department, died Thursday of injuries sustained in the August 1 crash.

Kimberly is a small town in Jefferson County near Birmingham.

Stathers' son, 8-year-old Shane Strathers, also died as a result of the crash.

The accident also left Stathers' wife Kristi Stathers and her sister with minor injuries.

Investigators say Strather's 2004 GMC Envoy SUV rolled over several times, most likely because of a blown tire.
