Game Day Notes - Auburn vs. Clemson


Auburn plays Clemson in its first road game of the 2011 season. It is the 48th meeting between the two schools and the second consecutive season in which they have played. Auburn defeated Clemson 27-24 in overtime in 2010 in Auburn.


Auburn holds a 34-11-2 (.723) record all-time against Clemson and has won 14 consecutive in the series.

Auburn currently owns the longest winning streak in the FBS at 17 consecutive games. Auburn is averaging 41.1 points per game during the 17-game streak.

The last two meetings between Auburn and Clemson each went to overtime and were decided on the final play of the game.

Auburn is the only team to rank in the top five in the SEC in punting (4th), kickoff return average (2nd) and kickoff coverage (2nd). Kicker Cody Parkey leads the SEC with eight touchbacks.

Auburn has scored 30 points or more in 18 of 29 games in the Gene Chizik era. } Auburn is 17-2 when leading at halftime under head coach Gene Chizik and has won 11 straight.

Sophomore RB Michael Dyer is third in the SEC/31st NCAA averaging 103.5 rushing yards per game

Junior WR Emory Blake has at least one touchdown catch in the last five consecutive games dating back to 2010, the longest streak by an AU player since 1980.

Emory Blake is second in the SEC/T-26th NCAA in receiving yards per game (101.5) & fifth in receptions per game (5.0). Blake is T-20th in the NCAA in total receiving yards with 203.

Excluding bowls, Auburn is 5-3 in road games under Gene Chizik. Auburn went 4-0 in 2010 and 1- 3 in 2009. Auburn has scored 24 points or more in five of those eight road games.

Freshman RB Tre Mason is the first Auburn player to ever record consecutive games with at least 150 kickoff return yards. } Auburn is second in the SEC averaging 31.1 yards per kickoff return while Tre Mason leads the SEC and is 10th nationally with a 34.8 ypr average.

RB Michael Dyer has just 10 carries for negative yards (minus 21 yards total) in 214 career rushing attempts. Dyer has four carries for negative yardage in 32 attempts this season.

Junior QB Barrett Trotter is 4th in the SEC/17th NCAA in passer efficiency (177.58), completing 72 percent of his passes (33-of-46) with five touchdowns and one interception.

The Tigers are 5-1 in games with a morning kickoff under head coach Gene Chizik. Auburn's only loss came against Arkansas in 2009 in Fayetteville.

Auburn has been ranked in the USA Today Coaches top 25 poll for the past 19 consecutive weeks. The Tigers have been ranked in the AP poll in 18 of the last 19 weeks.
