MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Get ready to vote!!!
The Montgomery Area Food Bank is in competition with 9 other food banks across America.
It's all part of the Tyson Foods social media campaign to boost hunger awareness. The food bank with the most votes will receive 30,000 pounds of protein, chicken and beef to be given to the needy in the area.
The last count shows Yuma, Arizona, ahead with 1,276 votes. Montgomery is coming in 8th with 220 votes.
Bill Havron is confident the Montgomery Area Food Bank can make up the difference. The voting goes on for another week and a half.
"We feel there's enough time to catch up. We're asking you to go to the Montgomery Area Food Bank facebook or the Tyson Foods facebook and vote for Montgomery," said Havron, the Deputy Human Resources Manager for the Montgomery Area Food Bank.
The Montgomery Area Food Bank serves 35 counties and around 300,000 people every year.
Tyson Foods estimates 49 million Americans are fighting hunger.
