Alleged UAH shooter pleads not guilty by reason of insanity

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WSFA) - Former biology professor at the University of Alabama Huntsville accused of shooting three colleagues and wounding three others has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.

Authorities say Amy Bishop opened fire on co-workers during a February 2010 faculty meeting killing three professors and wounding three others.

According to the AP report, police and people who knew Bishop described her as being angry over the school's refusal to grant her tenure, a decision that would have ended her employment at UAH.

A court date has been set for Bishop for March 12, 2012.
