MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - People headed to the Montgomery Zoo today to take part in "Walk and Roll", an event that raises awareness about Spina Bifida.
Spina Bifida is one of the most common birth defects in the United States and affects 166,000 people each year.
The walk benefits Spina Bifida research and those affected by the disease.
Event organizer, Teresa Treloar, says in addition to raising awareness, the goal of "Walk and Roll" is to learn different things about physical therapy and to prevent the disease.
Those who attended the event were also able to enjoy face painting, food, and games.
Visit www.sbaofal.org for more information on the disease and upcoming events.
