Auburn looks for healthy players for S.C. game

Auburn is trying to get a number of players healthy for the South Carolina game.

Five players sat out against Florida Atlantic with injuries while running back Onterio McCalebb and wide receiver Trovon Reed were hurt during the game.

Tigers coach Gene Chizik says they're all "day by day" for Saturday's visit to the 10th-ranked Gamecocks. He didn't specify the nature of the injuries.

Against Florida Atlantic, Auburn held out tight end Philip Lutzenkirchen, defensive end Dee Ford, guard John Sullen cornerback Chris Davis and linebacker Jonathan Evans.

Chizik says none were held out to rest for a bigger game but "because healthwise they needed to be out." Of those five, all but Ford have started games this season.
