The Cancer Wellness Foundation host inaugural "Decorate Your Days" event

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

October marks cancer awareness month, and for one organization raising money to help cancer patients is taking on a "new look."

Saturday was the inaugural "Decorate Your Days," event for the Cancer Wellness Foundation at Frazer UMC's Fellowship Hall.

The Cancer Wellness Foundation partnered with area merchants specializing in floral, home décor, gift items and special events to create "Decorate Your Days."

Five of the area's top floral designers provided demonstrations Saturday. The designers on hand included Al Cantrell from Al's Flowers, Jerry Thrash from Capitol's Rosemont Gardens, Carron Morrow of Personal Touch, Beth Mills from Prattville Flower Shop and Lynn Millhouse from One Stop Florist in Millbrook.

Several vendors offered custom and specialty merchandise, not available in traditional retail outlets, and discounts on purchases available only at "Decorate Your Days."

Many vendors and exhibitors participated in this event because of their commitment to helping cancer patients in their own communities.

The funds raised went to benefit the Cancer Wellness Foundation's efforts to help cancer patients in need, most of whom come from Autauga, Elmore and Montgomery counties. The Foundation helps Central Alabama cancer patients with transportation to and from treatments, prescription medications, nutritional counseling and social services and advocacy.
