EastChase kicks off "Go Pink!" campaign

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Shoppes at EastChase kicked off their month-long "Go Pink!" campaign with a flash mob that surprised every shopper Sunday.

This unique surprise was designed to bring awareness to breast cancer in general and the Joy to Life Foundation in particular.

The flash mob began their performance in stores and ended around the fountain at the center of the Shoppes. The performance finished with the flash mob forming a ribbon and a plane flying above them.

"We have a wonderful relationship with the Shoppes at EastChase," Joy Blondheim, Joy to Life co-founder, said. "They've been very supportive of Joy to Life over the past several years and it's fabulous to see them pulling out all the stops to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month."

Breast cancer survivors came out with family and friends to take part in the day's activities, including musical entertainment, mini massages from New Image and pink refreshments provided by 32 Degrees and Great American Cookie.

The Joy to Life Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides free mammograms for medically underserved women less than 50 years of age in 29 Alabama counties.  Founded in 2001 by Mrs. Blondheim (a breast cancer survivor) and her husband Richard, the Foundation has provided 5,445 mammograms to date, and 18 women have been diagnosed and successfully treated.

More information about the Joy to Life Foundation can be found at the organization's web site (www.joytolife.org) or by calling (334)-284-LIFE (5433).
