Long lines continue at Montgomery Co. probate office

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The Montgomery County Probate office says long lines continue into the new week, but spokesman Wells Robinson says the lines are not as bad as they were last week.

Robinson says September and October are historically busy months and that the new immigration law simply added to the demand for service.

Friday, the doors of the probate office closed at 5:00pm and employees stayed until 9:00pm processing hundreds of people who were in line, Robinson said.

More than 4,000 transactions were processed on the last business day of the month, the same day in 2010 saw about a thousand less transactions.

Robinson said the probate office is working to help as many people as possible.
