Pulitzer Prize poet makes her way to Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The capital city got a literary treat today as one Pulitzer Prize poet stopped by Auburn University Montgomery.

Natasha Trethewey won the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for poetry, has published four collections of poetry, and won the distinguished award for her third piece, "Native Guard".

Trethewey says her main goal for this tour is to increase appreciation for poetry.

Trethewey currently teaches Creative Writing at Emory University, where she is the chair of the poetry department.
