Murder charge filed after body found on roadside

BARBOUR CO., AL (WSFA) - Authorities in Barbour County say they've charged a suspect in the homicide of a Daleville man whose body was discovered along the side of the road over the weekend.

James Brandon Ward, 25, of Level Plains is charged with the murder of Marvin Nation, 45.

Barbour County Sheriff Leroy Upshaw requested the help of the Alabama Bureau of Investigation after a citizen discovered Nation's body in a rural section of the county on October 8. The man had been shot to death.

The ABI and U.S. Marshals Service obtained warrants for Ward's arrest Wednesday and found their suspect within 24 hours. Ward was taken into custody in Montgomery without incident.

A motive or details surrounding Nation's death has not been released.

The investigation is ongoing, according to investigators.
