MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) – How would you like to combine detergent, fabric softener, and a dryer sheet into one step? With the Purex Complete 3-in-1 laundry sheets, you can, if they work as promised.
We sent for a free sample pack of these Purex sheets. The pack arrived with two sheets for two loads worth of laundry. Our first load is a regular load of colored laundry to test out how well it works as not just a detergent but also as a softening and anti-static sheet. The second load is white laundry. Some of the clothes are soiled with of common stains.
The sheet mostly covered in a blue detergent for the wash. Along the top, we find a green stripe for softening and static removal in the dryer.
To begin, I set the water level and adjust the dial for a large cold wash. Next, the whole laundry sheet drops into the water. This is followed by loading my clothes into the washer. After a few minutes of washing, I took a peek and found suds and a pleasant aroma.
After the wash, the blue is gone from the sheet leaving behind a fuzzy fabric with a white color to it. The green strip along the top for the anti-static remains on the white sheet. The all go into the dryer for an hour.
Meanwhile, I had a little fun making a mess on an old pair of white socks. I scrubbed some grass stains into one and made a mess of cranberry juice, ketchup, and chocolate syrup. After wiping off the bulk mess, some common stains are left behind. I toss the soiled socks in with my other Purex sheet and the rest of my whites to wash. Once washed, the food stains were washed away, but some of the grass stains remained. A pretreatment may have helped remove deeper stains. The whites then went for a spin in the dryer with the Purex sheet.
With both loads dried and folded, I found the clothes were clean, smooth, static free, and the best part: they smell great!
We sent for a free sample of Purex 3-in-1 sheets for our test, but you can find a 20-pack selling for around $6-$8 bucks at local retailers.
